Adolf Hitler’s love life is an uncomfortable thing to think about. Leaving aside his political views, he was a weak man with yellowing teeth, bad breath, poor hygiene, and chronic digestive issues. But there were still plenty of women who found him attractive.

Eva Braun, however, was the only woman who ever married the Führer. Once the war was over, the world learned about their relationship thanks to the discovery of letters and photographs. And since then, historians have provided us with a fascinating account of this unusual relationship.

Seduced by Evil

In September 1929, Eva started working as an assistant at a photography studio in Munich. The studio was run by Heinrich Hoffmann, Hitler’s official photographer. Several weeks into her new job, Eva met Hitler for the first time.

Though she could tell he was attracted to her, she had no idea who he was. This may seem strange, but Eva was only seventeen at the time, and she had no interest in politics.

She soon developed a fondness for Hitler, as he kept bringing her small gifts, such as flowers and chocolates. Towards the end of 1930, Hitler started to take Eva on luxurious dates to the opera, the theater, and expensive…
