As a young man living in Britain, I’ve always been fascinated by American elections.
While British politicians spend their time talking to pensioners over a cup of tea and a biscuit, our American cousins fill football stadiums and dance along to the Village People.
The most recent American election campaign was particularly interesting. With two assassination attempts, Joe Biden dropping out, and Elon Musk dropping in, I found the whole thing thoroughly entertaining.
And with each passing week, one thing became increasingly obvious to me: Donald Trump was going to win. When the results were announced, I wasn’t surprised at all.
